Default CPU question

Ok im like really bad with this kind of stuff so forgive me if my question seems like it came from a 4 yr old......

Im gna upgrade my PC and was looking around the web for CPU prices and such. I currently have a Pentium 4 3.4 Ghz processor, and i saw on a couple of sites that a Dual Core E6600(or sumthing like that) had 2.4Ghz and was way more expensive. how come? or is it cuz that there are 2 processors both running at 2.4Ghz?

yeah and im sorry if this question seems dumb

Default Re: CPU question

It's kind of like having two processors, but not. Well, it's basically two processor cores on one physical chip. They have a lot of potential and can greatly outperform the Pentium 4 CPUs despite the lower clock rate due to it's new generation Core architecture and having an extra core for increased performance in multitasking. Each core in Intel's new architecture is about twice as fast clock for clock as any core in the P4 architecture.
*Fact: Microsoft Window's Blue Screen of Death vs Computerforums.org's White Screen of Death. Which is worse?
