Arrow CPU heating questions

Alright im going to buy a $200 Q6600 quad but it doesn't come with its own fan.

its clocked at 2.4 ghz but i was going to OC it to at least 3.0 or 3.2 ghz.

should i buy a fan for it and if so can you recommend one to me?

The stock fan will do for 3.0GHz, but any more and you will need after market cooling.

they are both 755 sockets but it says they connect to a 3 pin connector. would that be to the PSU or the motherboard?

Any fan that attaches to the stock Intel heatsink like that may come off after a period of time. Get the retail package for that cpu and it will come with the reccomended heatsink and fan as part of the kit. Intel's heatsink design has been proven to be one of the best designs out there.

If you buy just the cpu chip it doesn't come with the heatsink or fan. Just the retail versions do.

I just had a look at TD, and the retail box is $30 more, you could get a decent HSF for that money: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...82721&CatId=99
That's $10 more than buying the retail box, but it's a brilliant HSF. The OCZ Vendetta is another I would recommend, IMO and from first hand experience, it's one of the best 92mm heatsinks available.
