CPU Fan Too Loud

I have a Dell Dimension 8300. P4 3.0 GHz, 512 RAM, Windows XP. It's about 1 year old, and lately, the CPU fan has been really loud, even at 5%-10% CPU usage you can hear it from 10 yards away. It gets worse when I play games like RuneScape. I mean, when I play RuneScape, it's sounds so loud I think the computer is gonna explode!!

Can someone please help me out? It's getting really anoying!!

buy a fan controller. runescape isnt exactly a high graphics game lol. i play it sometimes and it takes like a 8mb card to run it and isnt that hard on a cpu.

From the sounds of it, it already has thermal managment built into the motherboard (hence the reason it gets louder during a game).

Perhaps just giving it a good clean with a hover will help the issue. If not, get a new HS/F - there not too expensive.

This is a shame, because all Dells I have ever used are silent.

Also, isn't it still under warranty? most Dells are sold with 3 years warranty.

runescape needs 8mb gfx? rofl...must be about the only java applet game that requires certain system specs, haha

Do you have the little airflow helper that goes over the heatsink and leads the air flow to another fan?
