Smile CPU and Cooler

Hello, I know you Should ALWAYS replace the thermal compound after removing these two from each other, my question is why? it seems to be just rule of thumb.

If for example your putting the same cooler back on, why do you need to replace it (i know you should) but its not like thermal compound has an expiration date, and every year we need to replace it?

Just extremely curious, Thanks.
(I know it probably going to be something so simple and ill look like a fool xD)

If the cooler has been on there a while, the thermal compound could dry up which would reduce its effectiveness when replacing the cooler. This is especially true with the thermal pads that you find on OEM CPU coolers.

What usually happens when you remove and replace a cooler without changing the compound is tiny air bubbles can be trapped between the CPU and the cooler, resulting in poor cooling performance.

Brilliant Thanks for fast reply
So we have to spend more money just because of air bubbles

(ive always got rid of the OEM thermal compound, especially intel.)
