Hey everyone,

I am looking to build a core i5 computer and would like as many opinions/suggestions as I can get. I am fairly new to this so any help would be greatly appreciated. I would like to keep the price down as much as possible, so when you see links to a bunch of different websites for different parts it is only for that reason :D

Basically, I would like to keep the price down as much as possible while still building a strong reliable machine. I do not play very many games, so the need for a good GPU is not high, but I also do not want to get a "bad" video card. Overall, the price of this machine in total is looking to cost about $650+tax and shipping. I do not really want to go above that, but if I have bad parts that I can upgrade, I will definitely look to do that. Also, if I have something that I went overboard with please let me know. I checked the compatibility of everything, and it seems as if they all work together, but if they do not please tell me.

Thank you for the help, I appreciate it.

Here is a good thread to look at. If you are not looking to get a great GPU, then you can easily put together a computer for that price. I am a newb at this myself and putting together an i7 with all the fixings. Fun isn't it?

if you want to stay down on costs, go with an AMD/ATi biuld. much less then an I5 usually.

with this PC be used for work, gaming, just basic use?

what size monitor will you use?

where are you located?

and finally, you will not need a CPU cooler, 90% of all CPUs come with a cooler.
