Converting an internal drive to external.

I've never done this before and plan on doing it.
It seems pretty straight forward and easy. Am I right?

Also, If i convert an internal HDD with an OS, pictures, music etc, will it erase all that or keep it? I'm not sure how this works.

Thanks!

There is no conversion of the actual hard drive. You just put the internal hard drive into a USB enclosure and connect it to your PC via USB cable. You will have to set your BIOS to boot from USB if you want to boot to this drive, though. This will not change your hard drive at all. You could put it back as an internal drive, change BIOS back to boot from internal hard drive and go if you wanted to.

Yeah, the only thing that makes it "external" is that you put it into a case to

1. Protect it, because they are fragile.
and
2. Convert it from 3.5" to USB.
