hi all,
a friend asked me to take a look at her laptop.
she said whenever she got to a particular page on one of her favourite web sites, it failed to load and kept refreshing every second or so.
i cleared cookies turned of all fire walls and still it happens. i system restored to prior the problem but still it happens, any ideas?

cheers in advance.

weird...
can you tell if there are any scripts running in the background that could be causing this?

Also, do a spyware scan.
http://superantispyware.com/

you never know...there could be something bad running in the shell of the explorer.
have you tried using firefox? safari? Opera?
Does it still happen if you use a different browser??

Lukas,
dont think its a virus.
i think it is a faulty setting.
i am running a scan at this moment.they are using ie, and don't want to change.

ok, i have scaned for bad guys doing their thing and got a clean bill of health.
i guessed that it must be something in the security settings.
i have now come to the conclusion that it is a setting for activeX.

after changing a few settings the page now attempts to load and then pops up a box with:

"a script is accessing some software (an activeX control) on this page which has been marked safe for scripting. do you want to allow this?"

yes no

if i select the yes option, it attempts to load the page, then the prompt appears again! this continues.

anyone got any ideas on the configuration i should be using in the activex security settings?

thanks in advance woz.

ok update.
i disabled the option:

"initialize and script activeX controls not marked as safe for scripting"

seems to hve fixed it.
