Considering buying a 8800GT, should I wait for the 9xxx series?

2 3870X2s in crossfire (drooling)..
would that max out crysis .

how are the drivers coming for the 3870x2

The 9800GX2 is supposed to be 40% faster than the 8800Ultra. MSRP $450. It should max out Crysis.
LOL good one, max out Crysis, HA there was 4 ATI cards in crossfire trying to run it on max and it couldent a good enough frame rate same with 3 Ultras in SLI.... but yeah i dont see a computer maxing out crysis yet, atleast on vista where it actualy takes full advantage of the game =D

Gotcha!
I'll go with the 8800GT, after all these ideas of a really crappy 9xxx series seem it be true until they redo the 9 series I don't want to buy em.
According to this(which is in the Thread - 9600 GT out now! - it says that the 9series isn't really something to jump for.

ATI have a new technology called CrossfireX which allows you to run four HD 3800 series cards together. Only available with a AMD 790FX chipset though.

I think they're about the same price as the cheaper X38 boards. AMD's high-end boards are often cheaper than the Intel ones because they don't need the memory controller etc as it's already built into the CPU.

I know Gainward put a revised cooler on every one of their 8800GT models. I've heard it's a lot better than the stock one.
