This is an HP desktop. d4999t series.
I built this configuration for $3,019, is there something cheap about the parts or is it just a great deal?( The quad core processor, 8gb ram, decent videocard) seems to good to be true. Please some feedback would be appreciated, i couldn't find a better customizable desktop for the price.

$1,875

that will be alot faster then the HP , you will just need to buy the monitor and speakers that you like

with the cpu the one i linked to is 2.4Ghz the one in the HP is 2.66Ghz .the 2.4ghz one can easy overclocked to 3.0Ghz - 3.6Ghz .thats why i provided you with a good cpu cooler.

any questions just ask

well dude yeah, i knew you could build it yourself for WAY cheaper, I just don't really know how to assemble it myself and wouldn't want to worry about it. Im talking for a factory do it for you, isn't that computer pretty bad ass or can you customize one(where the company will build it for you) better than that for around the same price? whats your opinion on the specs of that?

and cryman thank you so much for the input you gave me, i would love to build the pc myself, but im in fear that i wouldn't be capable (Im actually really computerknowledgeable, just not with setting up the hardware)

If you can plug a computer into a power outlet then you can build a computer. We have a guide linked in our guide thread (see the sticky). Read through that and give it some thought.

As for a factory built computer that isn't a bad price.

heres a link that worshipme is always linking too.
i beat him to it this time :D

if your still not 100% sure about it , take the parts to your local computer store and they will assemble it for you for around $50-100

That's a very good guide I think. I used it when I was a n00b. Building your own computer is a lot easier than you think. If you ever have any problems or doubts, post it up on CF and we'll be glad to help.
Just a suggestion though. As you've got that much to spend, it would be wise to invest in some DDR3 instead of an unnessasary 8GB of DDR2. As most new motherboards coming out in the next year or so will support DDR3: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220304

Building your own isn't at all difficult. you need to learn unless you are independently wealthy. Why pay 3000 for an 1600 to 18800 build?

THANK YOU! This was exactly the answer I was looking for, I knew there had to be a reason why the 8GB ram was so cheap compared to all the competitors 4gb setups, thank you man this is the kind of info i really really wanted. I think I am going to try to build my own, I might set up pictures and stuff of all my equipment once I get it because I am bound to need help, definitely a noobie at computer hardware.
