Taking into account all of the above I'd say it's looking increasingly likely you're looking at a fried motherboard... It's possible that the headphone jack was dodgy and shorted something critical that it shouldn't have, permanently damaging the board. It's unusual but that sort of thing isn't completely unheard of.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. However, I want to try other things (if possible) before I officially call it.
