Computer won't start

I've been trying to fix my Sister-in-Laws computer but have run out of ideas.

When the computer is switched on it tries to search for the boot record from the floppy and then from the SCSI. It finds it in neither. I have inserted a boot disc but this makes no difference (The computer does not try to read from the floppy drive). I have tried inserting a CD to try and reboot from this but again nothing happens. I have attached an external floppy drive (USB connection) but the computer does not read from this.

I can not get into the BIOS set up because the system asks for a password. My SiL has not changed the password and pressing enter or series' of numbers does not work. I tried removing the battery for a couple of hours hoping this might clear the password but it has not worked.

I have checked that all the connections are sound and can't see any visible signs of damage/fault.

Anyone have any ideas or is it likely to be kna?!*+ed ??

Reset the bios for starters. That way you can access it. Do so by setting the bios jumpers or removing the battery for 5 minutes.

Then try from there. Set your boot order and then give it a shot?
