Computer won't recognize keyboard in some Bios menus

For some reason I can't use my keyboard (or mouse) to navigate menus in some of the BIOS menus on my computer. But other menus do work! If I hit delete I get a menu that I can use, but if I hit F12 I get one where nothing happens when I hit the arrow keys. The problem is, I'm trying to use the G-Parted Live CD to partition my HDD, but I can't select the options I need. For the first few screens there are options, or if you wait 30 seconds it goes ahead with the default. Then at a certain point suddenly the keyboard works. But when I get into the Live CD the text is so tiny I can't read a thing. I'm trying to select a different graphics option in an earlier menu but can't. What's up with this?

Never mind, I solved the keyboard issue by enabling USB keyboard in my BIOS settings. But even in other graphics modes GParted is illegible on my plasma TV and I don't have an alternative monitor. I'll ask about this in a new thread.
