Default Computer wont power on.

I need help figuring out what caused my comp to stop turning on. My brother said that he smelled something burning and felt the back of the PC and it was very hot near the power supplly then it turned off and wont turn on...When i plug in my PC the lights to the keyboard and ethernet cable turn on but the PC wont turn on..the power button does nothing. Please help...Is the power supplly burned out? if so how? what can cause that to happen.
