Hi,
First time poster long time reader. I purchased my PC about two years ago and I think its time for an upgrade. Basically its used for just every day stuff and gaming from here to there....eg BF3 / NWN2 and soon to be diablo 3. This is the set up I currently have; Intel core duo E8400 3.0GHZ 6m FSB1333 GLA775 Asus p5E deluxe intel X48 ATX intel GLA 775 Corsair Dominator 4GB 8500 1066 5-5-5-15 DDR2 Asus 2014l 1t 20x Sata dvd writer light scrip Seagate Barracude 11 , 1TB SATA11 7200rpm 32mb HDD Saphire Radeon HD 4870 512mb 256-bit GDDR5 PCI-E Case: Antec 1200 full tower Cooler Master extreme power 650W power supply Cooler master vortex 752 CPU cooler Operating system windows XP UPGRADE: well I want my computer to be faster, its running pretty slow these days...I've been looking at upgrading to windows 7 and increasing the ram, would this be worth it? Im lead to believe my case can hold a lot more than I have so I have roughly $500-$1000 NZ whats about 600 US to spend. Any recommendations would be good, eg new cpu/mother board??? thanks! |

I don't do hardware builds really, but it seems the processor is probably where the bottle neck is happening. But of course a new processor = new board = new memory (more than likely).
You'll have to get some help from someone else on what to recommend for that.
