computer start up problem??

That would work, but I'd still hook the hdd into another computer and transfer the files so you don't have to worry about losing any data, then do whatever checking you wanna do.
 
I'd personally get another hard drive, install windows on that, and then connect the harddrive that won't boot into Slave mode (changing the cable configuration at the back of the hard drive) and setting the new one to Master. Then it'll hopefully see the Slave drive in My Computer to drag files off.

You could borrow a m8's PC to do this though rather easily if they'll know how :)

mitch, i had the same exact problem, you have to have your windows xp cd, and boot it from their, and either reinstall windows xp or repair it.
