Default Computer shutoff

I was wondering if anyone has ever had this problem? When I turned my computer on the other day it made it as far to the XP startup screen and then shut off. Then before restarting it I have to unplug it from the socket, then plug it back in, turn it on and it usually doesnt make it much further then the xp screen. Any Ideas??

Could be a bad power supply or an overheating issue. Also, check your BIOS settings for anything out of the ordinary.
