What type of ram should i trade it in for? I believe it was 512mb of PC2700?

Check the motherboard manual or go to the mobo website for the info. Go here for everest, d/l and run it. It will give you all the info on the machine.

Yeah, exchange it for the same type you have in your system at the moment, so they both run at the same speed, and don't slow each other down
