Default Computer Problems

I had a 1.8 pentium dell computer with 512 ram and 40 gb hard drive.

I decided i needed to up the specs of my computer to play halflife 2 as it was going a bit slow, so i invested in a new 3.00 ghz pentium 4 (http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=123709&cks=PLS) and because dell dont want you changing the processor i got a new case and a new motherboard (http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=123709&cks=PLS) that was compatible with the ram and the new processor.

I did not put this together myself as i was away at college so it was left in to a shop to be done. But now it is really noisy, keeps freezing, is very slow at times and had jerky music which has now led to not being able to play music at all.

Has anyone got any ideas as to what could be wrong?

I don't know why all this is happening... yet it could all be a temp issue. What temperature is the CPU running at?

Presscots run at very high temps, and because of this, they need a hefty heatsink and cooler to cool the processor, and it still runs hot... Basically if the shop hasn't put enough paste covering the CPU to bond with the heatsink, that could make it worse.

The freezing and sound jerking could be because of the same issue. The presscot processor could be getting too hot, causing the CPU to slow down internally and stop things running correctly since this powers the whole PC.

This could be rather dangerous... find out in the bios what the temps are, unless you have another way of doing it

It might not be this, but it's better to be safe than sorry. Thats what I say

Could it be that i dont have the right ram.I am nearly positive i have some that is compatible with the motherboard but is there anyway of exactly what type i have?
