Default Computer problem

My mother computer has windows 98 so yesterday I tried to upgrade to windows 2000 but everytime I get to the installation part it say's "insert disc into drive A" then it tells me to hit enter when im done but when I push enter it wont let me go to the next part of the installation it will keep tell me to insert disc into drive A. Could someone please help me im stuck on this part. Thanks

Sounds like it needs a boot disc. Are you putting the 2000 disc, while actually in 98? Can you boot from the disc and try it that way.. ?

Did you even get past the bios part? Sounds like you need to change your bios settings to boot off CD drive. Usually you press F12 or something when you first start your computer to get the the bios...

I'd try to boot from the CD, and then install it from there.

You need to tell it to boot from the CD, by changing the boot order in your BIOS.

If you've done that already, I'd check for a floppy in the drive.

I checked and there is no floppy in the drive. How do I get to my bios settings?

To get into your bios it normally tells you on the boot screen. sometimes its delete or f2
