Default Computer Parts List

Here is the current list of computer specs that I will be getting. I need to know what could be changed or enhacend (around the same price) to make it a better system...

AMD Athlon 64 3000+
nVidia 6800 GT / AGP 8x
Abit KV8 Pro VIA Socket 754 ATX
Raptor 36.7GB 10K HardDrive
Mad Dog 52x CDRW
EDIT : Ultra Single 1GB Memory
EDIT : Logitech MX510 Mouse

This is going to be for a gaming computer...What could be changed to make it better??

Thanks

Yeah there is a big difference between the 6800gt and 6600gt, the 6600gt gets about half the performance as a 6800gt, you can get equal performance with 2 6600gt's running in sli. And if you have the money, then definitely upgrade your cpu to a 3400, it's a lot better.

I suggest using a 939 processor. The 3500+ I just got really is amazing.

The 6600GT is a great card for budget gaming. But I wouldnt suggest it for a serious gamer.

Depending on various factors, you may want to wait until the 6900's come out. But, that could be a few months or more so its up to you.

yea, the 3500 isnt much more then the 3400, but i dont think im gonna go with the 6900 because the prices are probably gonna sky rocket, then the 6800's are gonna drop and thats when ill buy..

anyone have any idea of the starting price for the 6900

It should retail for around the same amount as teh 6800 and the 6800 should drop a little in price.

But the dif between the 3400 and the 3500 is upgradability.

I suggest changing your ram from 1 gig to 2 512mbs, with 512 mb's info travels between the two.

Yeah single gig sticks have high latency too, so you should prolly get 2 sticks of 512.
