~Computer Lag~ Plz Help

Well, I just got my computer about 4 months ago,I made it with a 3700+ AMD Athlon Processor, and etc. It's been doing great until after a while it begins to lag. When I start up the computer it will show the Windows XP logo and say Loading, but afterwards it will go black and wait there for like 5 minutes and then show the log in screen. I think the lag is coming from the log in screen so I guess I'm wondering how to get rid of that. Please help me I really want my computer to be good and operational.

No, I do not, it just started showing that log in screen which I dislike.

I'd say it's a virus. Can u get to windows at all? If u can try running anti-virus scans etc.

Or then as BigLu said it could be the hdd, but if the hdd is only 4 months old it's quite weird.

Hmm seems like corruption of windows sys files....if you can get into windows back everything up onto Dvd or another HDD and try reformatting windows (seem like killing a fly with a nuclear bomb but hell works for me)

Well use ad-ware spyware remover and AVG, both of these are free. Use those programs and that might mix your problem. Also if your download a lot of porn that will also mess up your rig. So keep a close watch on how much of that stuff your looking it at.

Somebody talking from personal experience?
U just got to know from where to dl it so u won't get nasty stuff. (I'm not an expert on this matter , but it's the same with everything)

thanks, this was very helpful, =) it's starting to get better i ran a ad-aware thing, is there a place i can get a Anti-Virus Program, right now im running on
No Firewall
No Anti-Virus
so just wondering if there are any free ones which are not trials

Kapersky you can download the 'trial' of Personal Pro which is actually just a free version of it. BitDefender also has a free version.
