Default Computer help

So I'm not very computer smart.

But basically....I am trying to play a computer game and everytime it freezes and the screen goes black. Sometimes my computer even restarts. I tried googling and I came to these conclusions.

Maybe my videocard, my monitor (have had it since 2001ish , haha) or maybe my computer is getting too hot inside. I took the side panel off but it doesn't help.

Anyways, here'smy information.

OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Professional

If you need any information I can post it, if you help me find how to get there. Otherwise if you can just tell me what the problem is if you know? Thanks so much!

Also...all of a sudden one day my speakers stopped working too mid-song, but I guess that's less important right now.

Can you go to the start menu, and type dxdiag on the run prompt. A screen will pop up, click yes, then copy and paste the information under "system" and "display"?

Also, can you tell use the game you're trying to play? What is the ambient temperature in your room? How clean is the inside of your computer? Have you updated drivers recently?

Trying to play World of Warcraft, my room is generally at 70 degrees all times, pretty clean, I just cleaned the dust out a few weeks ago. And Yes, I reformatted my computer and had my friend installed all the drivers. He's very good with computers so I can feel safe assuming it's all up to date

Where in the process of launching is the game freezing? Your specs are up-to-date with drivers etc. so there's no issue there. Might be a hardware failure but are you able to play other games just fine? Could also be a bad install.

This HAS to be video card or memory. I think you need more RAM. You only have 1GB.

Ah I load up the game, and play for 5-10 minutes before it happens. I'm not sure it's the videocard I got it a year or so ago and my friend said it was still pretty good. So I hope it's not that, but I was also considering RAM or I read somewhere power supply? Might be a dumb question but where can I go to get more RAM? Thanks for the help so far.

Sounds like a heat issue to me. Do you run other games that do the same thing? Or other processor intensive apps?

The only game I play is WoW, and it's also the thing that gives me problems. All I use my computer for is WoW, and to browse the net, facebook, etc.
