Exclamation Computer hard drive speeding up and slowing down

Hi, new to this forum. Recently I got a virus in my system. I removed it using Mcafee, spybot and malwarebytes in safemood. Now, once in a while my hard drive speeds up all of a sudden (makes noise) and then after some time slows down. Any idea what could be happening? The antivirus and spyware removal tools are not detecting anything.

Default Re: Computer hard drive speeding up and slowing down

Is it the hard drive or optical drive (CD/DVD-ROM)?
