If it turns out to be the motherboard you might be able to get a new motherboard and not have to change anything else.

Thanks... I remember buying ram and at the time the guy was telling me that I could upgrade the processor as it was a 939 - Athlon x2 maybe? That'd be sweet!

If it is 939 you could upgrade to an X2, however that would be more expensive than a high end AMD Athlon X2 BE.
