computer for a child help..

ok so one of my friends is wanting me to build a computer for her niece. i think she is like 9. the computer will only be used for games like the sims 1 and school work. not even the internet. they are on a very tight budget. i will be xp based not vista. i am completely open for suggestions. on board video is fine and both intel or amd is ok. im just wanting some ideas. on a build for her. ill be useing eather new egg or tiger direct

get a intel pentium 4 hyerthreading. and 512 ram. and a 100 or 160gb hdd. give her onboard video and thats good.

I'd go with 100GB HD, shes only 9 so its not like shes going to be storing 60 days of music on it.

but its to keep up. u know girls. they love to download virus's on their comps thru limewire so there will be plenty of space for malware. srry for the stereotypes andy girls that are on the forums

id say if ur going cheap then get AMD.

when it comes to single core processors id say AMD are ahead and yh 512MB RAM should be fine (dont need to be DDR2)

EDIT: An 80GB HDD would be more than enough... A 40GB would be also, but it's not worth the money to pay on Newegg, so you might as well get an 80GB.

Ok here is two ideas
1) look on ebay for already built systems , i got an AMD duron 1.1ghz with 20gb i think hd and a 64mb gpu with 512mb ram all fo just $70 earlier this year and now i have ridded it as i didnt need it any longer
2) go on ebay and buy used old parts cos tbh this kind of spec will do
pentium 41.7ghz with 512mb ram 40gb hd , i reckin you could build this for around £50-£60 or $100-$120
i got my p4 see sig for $60 used off ebay

this processor is also sufficient and at that price you could make it 1gb ram instead of 512 with a 40gb hd

well then that processor with 512mb ram , i really think it would be better if we had a budget to work to
