Default Computer broke.. HELP!!

well basically i don't know much about computers so i'm asking how to solve this problem on here, i have done extensive search on google but can't find the solution.

i ran a update on my HP pavilion desktop earlier, i don't know if it was windows 8 update or what, it said fixing registry system or fixing something i'm not 100% i didn't concentrate on it at the time, but i get on my desktop and my programs are showing there icons but not there names, and all my programs say nothing, like when i right click i can't see copy paste or anything, it's like all the words have been taken?

please help? i can't really explain better than that.
