Default Completly Wiping the HD

I upgraded my hardrive and i'm selling my old hd for 50bucks(good deal for other guy) anyway, i want to wipe out everything on the HD so nothing can be recovered by any means(credit card numbers, taxes, my journal ), reformating can leave HD suceptable to recovery so is there a free program where i can wipe out everything?

Low Level formating would probably clear it off. Seagate had some old DOS tool for this, but you had to know all the specs of the drive(which can be a pain sometimes ;P) I'm sure there are others out there too. Better ones and all
