Default compatable?

Hello, I've recently been looking to build a new computer and I've had some trouble being able to pick the right mobo and hard drive i want. I picked these out and I was wanting to make sure the motherboard and hardrive are compatable because I was unable to tell here they are:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131013

Thanks for the help :-D

Wrong section buddy. This belongs in the General Computer Hardware & Software section.

Moderators, move this please.

EDIT>>> You don't SCSI for normal computing, unless you plan to build some server or something. Even then, there are no normal motherboards that natively support SCSI, so you'll need a SCSI adapter that uses a PCI slot.

I would just settle with SATA 3.0Gb/s, it's not as fast as SCSI, but way more practical and cost effective.

EDIT Rev.2>>> Thanks to Lhuser for moving this.

For only $79.99, this would be a great match for that motherboard: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 (Perpendicular Recording) 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive.

alright, thanks for the help, althought i was kind of hooked on getting a 10,000 RPM HD as I have heard alot oabout them and how good they are.

will a 7200RPM HD perform almost as the same?

I am looking to build a gaming computer so I was assuming a fast HD such as a newer 10K RPM HD would be a good choice, am I wrong and a 7200K RPM hd will be just fine for me?

Thanks very much

7200 rmp is the speed that most harddrives use, it's definitely fast enough for gaming.

the vid card is compatible with the mobo.
I don't like Rosewill psu's, I'd probably go with antec or ocz.

Here's an excellent 500W PSU: Antec SmartPower 2.0 SP-500 ATX12V 500W Power Supply for $69.99.

It's the one I'm currently using. It has SLI support if you ever go that way and supplies 36A on the dual 12v rails.

The video card will be fine. The X1900 GT is a very good card, beats the 7900 GT in most tests.

Don't bother with the sound card - it won't be much better than stock. If you really want a sound card, get an X-Fi - they blow both the Audigy and onboard sound out the water, although the Asus's onboard sound is still pretty good

Have you thought about cutting back somewhere and getting a better monitor? To be honest, that one is extremely poor - a high response time and its very small, from an unknown company.

Have you got a mouse and speakers?

I already have a mx400 which I love and a nice logitech headset.

Could you point me into the direction of a better moniter thats under 200 dollars

with a max res of 1024x768 or a moniter where that resolution will look decent?

Thanks very much :-D

You should be looking at a higher res than that - your card should make short work of any game running at 1280x1024, so theres no point getting a lower resolution.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824116353

Theres a 19" monitor within your range - Viewsonic are known to be a good make, and you'll have a big screen 19"s are often dismissed, but I've gotta Viewsonic VX912 and its awesome

Yea, that sound card isn't much better than what's onboard, but it will free up the CPU some from having to process the sound resulting in better framerates while gaming. You don't need to go with the X-Fi cards for great sound, an Audigy2 will do great for around $65 if you're willing to spend that much.

Instead of a plain CDROM drive, I would suggest getting either the LG Black 16X DVD-ROM 52X CD-ROM because quite a few games are now coming on DVD, or even the NEC ND-3550A CD/DVD Burner for if you're ever interested in backing up or saving files and stuff to CD or DVD.

Yeah - definitely get a DVD burner

The Pioneer DVR-111DBK, which both me and my mate have, is cheap and very good

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829102188

There's an X-Fi for $80 after Mail-in rebate - well worth it! If I were you (which, unfourtunately, I am not) I would definitely go for that

And have you considered Core 2 Duo? You could spec a decent Core 2 Duo for the same price, and it would be around 1.5 to 2 times better than that processor!

Heh, I got my X-Fi Platinum for $80.

The Pioneer is a good burner. Personally I prefer NEC, LG, LiteOn or Plextor.

Yea, that Samsung will do nicely. Has a good contrast ratio and a quick responce time.
