Which would perform better:

2x3.4ghz Xeon, non dual-core, 2GB RAM
vs.
2.33ghz Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM

Which video card is better?

V7100 FireGL 256MB
vs.
7600GO 256MB

For the processors you say the xeon isn't dual core, but you say x2, what do you mean? Are you using two?

And for the video cards: The FireGL series is for video editing and that stuff, while the 7600 is for gaming, so it depends what you want to do. . .

x2, yes, means two.

I'm for gaming, mostly. But even that considered, which is faster?

deff the xeon
its 4g and pluse its to so u basicly have to sepret cores
as for video card im not sure
but id say nether go with the gefroce 8800 if u got the cash

For gaming, try to say away from server/workstation intended hardware. You'll do more harm than good. Go with the Core 2 Duo and 7600 GO (I thought it was GS and GT?). The Xeons might have more cores, but it's designed for servers, and the FireGL card is designed for workstation uses like graphics design and so forth.

But in general performance, say web design and music production...?

the FireGL may outperform in web design but it'll slow you down a ton if you do any gaming. If you seriously don't do any gaming, go with the FireGL, but if you do any at all, the 7600GO will pick up the slack for any webdesign you want to do as well as game.

Alvino, the 7600 "GO" is the laptop version of the 7600.

Ooh. I thought he was talking about the desktop cards. Yeah, then I know about the GeForce Go 7600.
