compaq presario 1810 sound card

hi. a friend of mine recently cleaned out my hard drive, deleting everything, then reinstalling my os, which is windows 98. everything works fine, except that i no longer have any sound, and the sound card is not even listed in my computer's directory. i contacted the support staff at hp, and they couldn't help me. does anyone have an idea where i can find the correct driver for my laptop? thank you!

hi and welcome to the forums we may be able to help. Do you have an install disk with drivers etc on that came with your PC?

If you do we can help you install your sound card

You could also use a program called "Everest" to look up what sound card you have and look for the drivers on the internet.
