Default comments on this build

I have been doing alot of research and have put a list together. This will be my first build and I want every thing to go smooth. I have been pulling my hair out trying to decide on what to get. One thing I am undecided on is the CPU. It is either the q6600 or the e8400. What do you think?

https://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion...asp?ID=5587685

I would like to get a X38 motherboard but they are a minimum of 200 bucks. On that motherboard I picked out, it says the memory standard is DDR2 1066 and the memory I have picked is DDR2 800. Is this a problem?

I feel pretty good about everything else. What do you think? Are there any compatibility issues? Anything I should change?

What is the PC going to be used for? If it's primarily for gaming, then go with the E8400(especially if you know how to OC) The motherboard you picked supports up to DDR2 1066MHz RAM, using 800MHz RAM will not be a problem. One problem, we can't view you cart.

I probably do more multitasking than gaming although I do go through spells where all I do is play games like BF2142. I plan on playing Crysis and COD4 and some other ones on this new machine.

I did not put the CPU in there since it is either a Intel Core 2 Duo q6600 or the Intel Core 2 Duo e8400.

I do not know how to overclock. If it isn't that hard, I may try after I get his rig built, don't know yet.

Looks good, just make sure you get two kits of the that memory. If you're not going to be doing much video/audio editing or encoding then I would recommend the E8400. And if you do want to try your hand at OC'ing later then I really recommend you try to stretch yourself $30 more for this mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130098.
I will help you with your overclock if you want. The E8400 is an overclocker's dream, they can reach 4.2GHz. The Q6600 can reach 3.6GHz absolute max. New PSU is very good BTW. Quad 12V rails and they carry over 50A!

Why do I need two kits of the memory? I thought Windows Vista 32 bit only goes up to 3gb's. Am I wrong?

Why are you getting the 32 bit version? Any reasons?

All looking good from me though

If the Intel Core 2 Duo e8400, is a dual core, and the Q6600 isn't much more expensive, go for that. Its a very good overclocker, and with the right cooling, will take you well into 3.0GHZ and above (Mines at 3.2ghz with a Zalman 9700 heatsink/fan)

I just figured that I would run into software compatibility issues with 64 bit. That's about the only reason. Are there any compatibility issues with 64 bit? Maybe it has been out long enough now and all the issues have been fixed, I don't know.

I would recommend this 8800GT, if you want it.

I would go with that if you don't do those mail in rebates.

Overall good build, just a suggested on the GPU.
