Default Choices...!!!

Ok did alittle more looking around.
My CPU choices are:

AMD Athlon™ 64 FX-57 with HyperTransport Technology

AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 4800+ with HyperTransport and Dual Core Technology

AMD Opteron™ 280 2.4 GHz 64-Bit w/Dual Core Technology

My Mainboard choices are:

Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe (SLI)
Asus A8R-MVP (Crossfire)
(*NOTE* If the Opteron is the best choice I will need to pick a different mainboard then those)

DFI LANPARTY UT RDX200 CF-DR (Crossfire)
DFI LANPARTY UT NF4 SLI-DR Expert(SLI)

My Ram choices are:

2 - 4 GB OCZ EL DDR PC-3200 Dual Channel Gold Edition / 400Mhz

2 - 4 GB OCZ EL DDR PC-4800 Dual Channel Platinum / 600MHz
(Can run at 400 mhz with 2:2:2:5 timings if needed, 2.5:4:4:10 at 600 mhz)

Video card choices are:

2x 512MB ATI Radeon X1800XT (Crossfire)
2x 256MB BFG Geforce 7800 GTX-OC's (SLI)
(I cant get the 512MB GTX's in Canada. BFG aint shipping them here)

Make sure that you get a 939 Opteron and not a 940 Opteron. Out of those, if you want to overclock the FX is the best, if you don't the Opteron, and if you like running loads of stuff at the same time the Dual Core

I agree...
But realize that all the processors you named have Hyper Transport

I dont think the Opteron has a mainboard for Crossfire.

So I am guessing the 2x 512 ATI > 256 GTX's correct?
The mainboards there only go up to PC 3200 400mhz DDRam. So I went with OCZ Platinum Dual Channel DDR PC3200. Just what will be better 4 GB or 2 GB because of that 1T and 2T timing.

My choices have changed abit.

AMD Athlon™ 64 FX-55
AMD Athlon™ 64 FX-57
AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 4400+
AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 4800+

2x 512MB ATI Radeon X1800XT (Crossfire)
2x 256MB BFG Geforce 7800 GTX-OC's (SLI)

DFI LANPARTY UT RDX200 CF-DR (Crossfire)
DFI LANPARTY UT NF4 SLI-DR Expert(SLI)
Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe (SLI)
Asus A8R-MVP (Crossfire)

Pretty much either FX or X2. But which mainboard and graphix setup there will give me better gaming preformance?
