Arrow Cheaper to buy enclosure and internal hdd?

Why is it cheaper to buy the enclosure and an internal hdd to make external hdd instead of buying a regular external hdd???

Because the manufacturers have to put it together, test it, etc etc..

Lol yeah, but think about it, inside the enclosure, put a power Y-splitter in it, and you can put neons in yours, depending on them being small enough, and that would look sweet, because the cathode ones are sweeet

u just put the hard drive in the enclosure and screw it together......

Thanks. I will probably look into doing that then. However is it better for an internal HDD to become external using USB 2.0? I mean will that be making any difference in its speed?

USB 2.0 can transfer at speeds of up to 480 Mbits / sec.
As for USB 1.1, it can transfer at speeds of up to 12 Mbits / sec.
