I have a Canon Powershot A75 digital camera which takes compact flash memory. I was looking around for a memory card and I saw that there are different speeds of the memory like 4x to 80x.

does it matter what speed I get? are all speeds compatable with all cameras?

I would assume that most speeds would be compatible with any camera, however, I would check your camera's manual to be sure. Obviously, the higher the speed, the faster it will save/retrieve files to the card.

so the speed is just how fast the card can be written to? thats good to know

Indeed. I recommend getting the fastest one you can, though, because the slow ones are _really_ slow.

I just checked the manual for the camera and it didn't say anything about speed recommendations or whatever, but it did say Compact Flash (Type I) anyone know what that means?

I believe it has something to do with the size of the Compact Flash card (sorta like PCMCIA I, II, & III). Just make sure whatever card you get is type I, it should say on the packaging. At least, I hope it would.
