Default CDROM SATA or IDE?

I just picked out a nice, but standard cd/dvd drive for my new computer.

I, however, didn't pay attention to the interface as I assumed SATA, but it is clearly IDE. Should I return the product based on this? Do most new motherboards have an IDE connector? Also, what are the pros and cons of SATA/IDE when it comes to cd/dvd drives?

All of the newer motherboards have an IDE connection on the motherboard. The advantages to SATA are faster speed and a small cable for less case clutter.

rohan said it nicely. all mobos have IDE. the difference between newer mobos and older mobos is newer only have once IDE channel which means you can only have 2 IDE devices (one hard drive, one CD drive, etc.) and the latter has 2 or more channels

Nah. Drives are so fast nowadays that you probably won't see a noticable difference in speed. I'd just keep it.

I hate IDE, fat cables completely spoil all the effort I put in on cable management. That, and my P5K's IDE connector is right down the bottom of the board.
