Default CD-RW problem

I have a CD-RW that is detected in the BIOS but when I boot into windows its not detected. If I have a CD in the drive it is then detected by windows and it is visible in windows explorer. can anybody help??

So what your saying is that the drive is not visible but when you place a CD into it you can open it?

Go into device manager and remove the drive then restart windows its should be reinstalled.

The drive is only visible if I put the disk into the drive and then restart the computer. If I put the disk in and try to access it without restarting i can't. And when I try and remove the disk before restarting the drive won't open.

it is a fresh install.
