CD-RW DVD drive not working

Hey guys. I've had this laptop for a while now and recently the CD drive has only been working like 45%-50% of the time. I would put in a CD and it won't even recognize it! Sometimes it would recognize a blank CD when I put it in, but when I try to burn stuff to the CD the computer fails to recognize that a CD is in there.
Is there anyway to cure this? Thanks!
