Default CD-rom boot priority..no medium

I'm having a problem starting up my pc, getting an error that says CD-rom boot priority no medium. I've recently upgraded from windows vista to W7 and yesterday downloaded an update, now my computer will not start up.
I checked in the BIOs and my HDD is the first on the list so it is recognizing that its there. Could it be out of date drivers for my HDD, if so how to I update them?
