CD/DVD Drive

I want to burn movies. I try to burn them with my current drive (which was suposed to be a really good one, newegg doesn't carry it anymore though) and it takes like two hours... I was informed that some people do it in 15 minutes. I guess my drive is broken or something... When looking at drives to burn movies all I need to look at is DVD+ and - R right? in which case x24 is the best?
