ahhhhh thats the CD drive i need for my sis comp i bought her a cheap one on ebay and it has a cd drive slot like that with that connection its def not standard desktop IDE connection and it def not a laptop drive coz i tried connecting a laptop drive in my sis comp with no luck

It gets the power through the IDE/PATA connection. It's used in small form factor computers, that's all.

i am not installing this into a laptop, i am installing it onto a mini itx computer, what exactly am i putting into the back of it? a standard or laptop ide?

well does it even have an open slot for it?

you have to take out the old one, just open the drive and pull it out, and put the new one in. if theres more than one slot, just put it in, duhhh. theres no cables for this. it plugs into the mobo, kinda like a pci card. or a ram stick.
