Default cd drive help needed

1. what does dual layer mean for cd-drives? what does it do?

2. i've seen some cd/dvd drives that burn discs. what are the best brands to do so?

3. is there a big difference in a 48x read/write speed and a 52x read/write speed?

1) have you ever got a DVD movie and both sides have part of the movie on it. well thats what DL(dual layer) is. so basically you can have one disc and have twice that amount of data on them.

2)I have a toshiba DVD/CD burner drive and it works perfect(it's also a DL burner)

3)no not really. I don't go above 32x because the higher you go the more likly you are going to get errors on the disc.
