Cd Burner issues

I was hoping someone could please help me with this. I have an acer aspire 5610z and its been a great computer for about three years now. But for some reason anytime I try and burn a cd now it says that there is no cd burner detected....or "connect cd burner and try again" when I have never disconnected it in the first place. Now I noticed it started doing it after I had downloaded RealPlayer...My uncle is actually a computer tech but lives so far away so he cant check it out, but he did ironically ask the question if I have downloaded anything thats powered by Roxio and I had actually just downloaded RealPlayer (powered by Roxio), he said that he has had several cases where burners are not detected after doing that and to try deleting the realplayer software and restart my computer...well it STILL isn't being detected!! Can somebody PLEASE help me out? Thank you very much
