Default Caviar Green vs blue vs black

I want to run RAID on my computer, gonna start with new hard drives. I remember getting the recommendation for the caviar black...but what's the performance difference between the black blue and green? Thanks

I went from a blue 320gb to a black 1tb, and was amazed at the speed difference, especially in boots and opening programs. Plus, it's not a big cost difference. Definitely go for the blacks

For RAID, black is the way to go, Samsung Spinpoint F1's, or 7200.12's now that they are fixed.

so the rpm isnt necessarily what defines effective speed?

There is RPM, cache, write format, and a LOT more that defines HDD speed.

Basically, look at benches to know for sure.
