Default cas latency question

what is cas latency?

would there be a big difference between a cas latency of 2.5 and a cas latency of 1.5?

The ratio between column access time and clock cycle time, thats what i found on google lol all i know is that lower is better i think people like the lower latencies for overclocking

CAS latency is the most important of the memory latencies.

It's the first in a string of latency numbers e.g. 2-3-3-5 - 2 is the CAS latency.
