Question can't find my cd & dvd drives. help please!

1st post. My friend said this site's users helped him on his computer so I'm giving it a shot. I'm not the best with computers but can fix minor problems from time to time. But I have no idea what to do w/ this one.

A few days ago I was looking in "My Computer" and didn't see the icons for my CD & DVD drives. I went to Nero to burn a CD and it didn't detect a drive to burn with. What should I do to remedy this problem??
