Default Cant connect at dorm.

I just moved into my dorm. I got my laptop running, and now when I am trying to register my desktop, I can't. It says I am connected to an unidentified network, but when I open my browser I was expecting to see my universitys registration, but I get nothing. The port on the back of my computer is a solid green light and a blinking orange. The blinking orange is not rythmic at all though. When I moved in the jacks in the wall were broken, is it possible that my computer says im connected, but the jack is wired wrong or something?

I am an idiot, I forgot to take off my static ip... but I still don't think that fixed it?!?!? I'm rebooting.

Bet it fixed it, ya? Let us know if not.

Don't take life too seriously -- no one gets out alive. Plus, who wants to arrive to the hereafter in pristine condition wearing a suit and tie?
I want to slide in sideways, worn out, used up, hair a mess, clothes tattered, & screaming, "Whooo! What a ride!"
