Can you run a game if the cpu speed is lower than what is needed?
eg. for assassins creed 2 you need 2.6
i have 2.2
so will the game run smoothly or not
i know it also depends on gpu but does the speed make a difference

speed makes a difference. but the required 2.6 might be single core and if you have a dual core at 2.2ghz then it should be fine. you wouldn't be able to play it on high setting though.

I don't think CPU speed has anything to do with it, as long as it's not super low. What I think is important is the CPU architecture, chipset and more importantly the graphics card.

What he said. Architecture is far far more important.

ok i have a dual core processor with runs from 2.26 to 2.53
but how do i know if assassins creed 2 needs single core or quad core
i have intel core i5-430m

Processor: Dual core processor 2.6 GHz Intel Pentium D or AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ or better recommended)

What is your actual processor? If it's a Core 2 Duo or Pentium Dual Core at or above 2.2ghz you should be fine.

if it doesnt say its dual core then you can assume they meant single core. plus, you have i5 processor, that is pretty decent nowadays.
