Default can the msi k8n neo4 mobo support athlon x2?

Does the msi k8n neo4 mobo support the athlon x2 dual core processor? Does a mobo need anything special to support a dual core processor or is the socket number the main thing that is important.

here is the newegg link to the mobo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130491

i would think it does!!!

needs to be right socket and have correct bios. so if you bought the motherboard a bit ago you might need to get new bios, but you should be ok.

if you really want to check go to msi website, go to the specs of your motherboard and click suported cpu list. itll be there.

I have the SLI Platinum version of it, and X2 works on it.

I'm not exactly sure if that's yours, but it does say X2 ready. I do believe you need a BIOS update though.
