do you know the make and model of your motherboard?

Intel core duo 2 uses socket 755

Pentium 4 uses 423, 478 or 775

so your motherboard might not support it

I have seen inter core 2 Duo on socket 755

How I know is because my motherboard is socket 755 and it can support pentium 4, dual core, quad core, core 2 extreme and core 2 duo

The chipset is a 945G, so it probably won't support it. I didn't see anything else about other CPUs other than P4 and Celeron. I'd try out a Pentium D, but other than that, no.
