Hi,

Well, since my disk can't boot from startup, I might try installing the OS (vista) by opening my computer-->Disc Drive E:--> Setup.exe. Do you guys think that doing it manually (my computer-->Disc...........) and doing it the other way (reads disk automatically at startup) will have the same results??

Why wont it read the disc automaticaly? have you set it to frst boot in the BIOS and yes it will run after your computer is booted up, just go into my computer and right click on the drive its in and select open.

Check the boot order in the bios. Make sure your cd drive is set first.

If you run the vista disk inside of an os it will only let you do an upgrade (which will be fine if thats what you want) but to do a clean install you need to boot from the cd.
